Merge Panda and Suika Game are both drop-and-merge physics puzzles. In each, you drop pieces into a container, two matching pieces merge into the next size up, the ladder has 11 steps, and only the five smallest pieces ever drop. The differences are in the details. Suika Game is the paid original from Aladdin X, with fruit, online leaderboards and versus play. Merge Panda is a free, ad-supported game with snacks and pandas that adds a combo multiplier, a more forgiving game-over rule and daily missions, but has no leaderboards or multiplayer.

How they play the same #
If you can play one, you can play the other within seconds. Both games:
- give you one decision per turn: where to drop
- use physics, so pieces roll, bounce and push each other
- merge two identical pieces into the next tier at the point where they touch, which lets one drop set off a chain
- only spawn the five smallest pieces, so everything bigger has to be built
- show the next piece one turn ahead
- reward the same strategy: biggest pieces in a corner, the rest lined up by size

Where Merge Panda differs #
Combos change how you score #
In Merge Panda, merges that happen within about 2.2 seconds of each other count as a chain. The first merge scores normally, the second is worth 1.25x, the third 1.5x, and so on up to 3x. Points also scale by tier: a Berry is worth 3, a Bamboo 36, an Emperor Panda 66. That rewards cascades explicitly, so a well-built row pays even more than in Suika.
The game over is more forgiving #
Suika Game ends when fruit crosses the top line. Merge Panda only ends a run when a piece that has settled stays above the dashed line for about two seconds. A snack bouncing past the line, or a new piece hopping up from a merge, doesn’t count. A warning icon appears when a piece is sitting over the line, which gives you a moment to fix it.
A rescue, once per run #
When a Merge Panda run ends, you may be offered a Panda Rescue: watch an optional video ad and every Sprout, Berry, Dango and Rice Ball on the board pops. You get one per run, it needs an ad to be available, and it never removes bigger pieces.
Daily goals and a collection #
Merge Panda gives you three new missions each day (“Grow a Watermelon,” “Chain a x5 combo”), a daily coin gift that grows with your play streak, 22 achievements, and a Panda-dex that records every tier you’ve discovered. The ladder goes somewhere different #

Where Suika Game is the better pick #
Suika Game has things Merge Panda doesn’t:
- Competition. Online leaderboards (daily, monthly and all-time) and online versus. Merge Panda only tracks your personal best.
- An ad-free option. Suika Game+ on Apple Arcade has no ads, because Apple doesn’t allow ads or in-app purchases in Arcade games. Merge Panda is free because it shows ads: optional rewarded videos, plus an occasional ad between runs, at most one every 2.5 minutes and never before you’ve finished two runs.
- Consoles. Suika Game is on Nintendo Switch, and its sequel Suika Game Planet is on Switch and Switch 2.
- The original. Suika Game is the one everyone talks about. If you want to compare scores with friends, that matters.
Which one should you play? #
- Pick Suika Game if you want leaderboards, versus play, or you play on Switch. It costs $2.99 on Switch, and it’s included in Apple Arcade.
- Pick Merge Panda if you want something free on your phone, like having daily goals, or find sudden game overs frustrating. It works offline and doesn’t need an account. You can get it from the Merge Panda website, which links to the App Store and Google Play.
- Play both if you like the genre. They’re similar enough that practice in one helps in the other, and different enough that they don’t feel like the same game.

Is Merge Panda a copy of Suika Game? #
Merge Panda uses the same drop-and-merge idea, a genre that started with the Chinese browser game Merge Big Watermelon in 2021 and now includes many games. Its pieces, art, scoring, combos, game-over rule and daily systems are its own. It isn’t affiliated with Aladdin X.
Which game is harder, Merge Panda or Suika Game? #
Suika Game’s instant game over at the line is less forgiving. Merge Panda’s two-second rule and optional rescue make runs last longer, but the Emperor Panda at the top of its ladder is a long climb. Most players find Suika’s endings harsher and Merge Panda’s top tier harder to reach.
Does Merge Panda have online leaderboards? #
No. Merge Panda records your personal best score and lets you share a result card through your phone’s share sheet, but there’s no online leaderboard or multiplayer mode.
